Today Confidencen is the oldest Rococo theatre in Sweden, reopened in 1981 and run since then by Kjerstin Dellert. Ulriksdal Palace had in the palace's northern wing originally a chapel, built in 1662 by architect Jean de la Vallée. The chapel was torn down during Gustav III's renovation of the palace in 1774.

This summer promises the full experience of 18th century opera as Ulriksdal Palace Theatre, The Confidencen. The main opera production will be of Gluck’s vibrant take on The court theatre at Ulriksdal Palace features the oldest original theatre interior in Sweden, designed 1753 by the theatre architect Carl Fredrik Adelcrantz. The building itself had originally been constructed as riding stables in the 1670’s. On Queen Lovisa Ulrika’s initiative it was converted into a theatre. A new production of Handel’s Agrippina will be performed on period instruments at the Drottningholm Court Theatre, while at Sweden’s oldest rococo theatre, the Ulriksdal Palace Theatre (Confidencen), clever programming pairs one of the earliest known English operas, John Blow’s Venus and Adonis, with his pupil Henry Purcell’s much-loved Dido and Aeneas.

The house was built as a riding school in 1670. It was rebuilt by Carl Fredric Adelcrantz in 1753 as a court theatre for King Adolf Fredric and Queen Lovisa Ulrica. Attention s'il vous plaît!
